Dopplr

I just added my trip to SGFoo to my Dopplr account.

Dopplr gets so much so very much right. Good for them!

They do friends discovery well on the sites it knows how to read (flickr and facebook, mainly).

I'm hoping that our work at SG Foo will lead to the point where sites like Dopplr can "find my friends" at any other social network point I care to give it, without special preprogramming.


Mark, thanks for pointing out the Dopplr implementation. We'll copy that.

 

Possibly one approach to currently take, would be, instead of just having a few fixed number feeds for my crowdvine account, with the names "Blog", "Bookmarks", and "Photos", instead be able to have N of them, and be able to assign one of a large set of "types" to them.

Then I could just add my dopplr feed, etc.

That would be ideal. Actually, Tumblr does something like that.

I am working on such a capability but the challenge as always is that there are SO many sites and each site is completely unique. What would be great would for a feed to advertise how to parse that particular feed. =)

 

In fact, that would probably form the basis of a very useful library where each social network could be responsible for contributing their bits to it.

Call it SNAC == Social Networks Always Connected.
